Introduction to the JIKD Email/Audio Project

The Joint Institute for Knowledge Discovery (JIKD) Email and Audio project is an innovative research effort comprised of several University of Maryland academic departments and research units. Working on the project are faculty from various disciplines, including the fields of Computer Science, Engineering, and Information Studies. The University of Maryland at College Park serves as the site for JIKD project administration and as the main research center. The Universtiy of Maryland at Baltimore County is an additional site for project research.

The purpose of the JIKD Email/Audio project is to bring diverse people, ideas, and tools together to formulate innovative solutions to email and audio, or speech, concerns. The goal of the project is to help users make sense of large digital collections comprised of email and speech data.
